Saving Chat Messages
• Following are directions for saving chat messages for the currently most used chat sites:

Logging Information in AOL or AIM
AOL/AIM does not automatically log conversations, the only option a user would
have to log a conversation they want to keep is to select to save it from the window where the conversation is taking place.
File > Save in the message window
Select a location to save the file
Give the file a name
Under File Type choose to save as Text Only
Click Save
You can then view the file that you saved by going to the location where you
specified it to be saved to.
***Archives are encrypted and can only be viewed by the AOL ID that created ***
them and are only viewable in the AOL window and only on the
computer the messages were created on.

Logging Information in Yahoo!
Yahoo! does not automatically log conversations. There are three different options
for logging conversations in Yahoo! and you can choose them under:
Messenger > Preferences > Archive
For logging all conversations and keeping them after the logging out you would need
to select,
Yes, save all of my messages.
Click OK to save your settings
Be sure to click okay after changing any options so that they take effect.
You can view any archived messages or history under:
Messenger > Preferences > Archive > View Archive
or
Contacts > Message Archive
***Archives are encrypted and can only be viewed by the Yahoo! ID that created them and are only viewable in the Yahoo! Messenger window and only on the
computer the messages were created on.

MSN/Windows Live Messenger
Windows Messenger does not automatically log conversations.
To turn logging on go to:
Tools (on the top menu) > Options > Messages
Find Message History on the right
Check the box for <Automatically keep a history of my conversations.>
Check location to save conversation to
(If the location where the conversations are being saved to needs to be
changed, Click Change and specify a new location to save to)
You can view any archived messages or history under:
Files> View Message History
or in the conversation window under:
Files> View Message History
or by visiting the location where you specified the conversations to be saved.

ICQ does not automatically log conversations. To turn logging on go to:
Main (on the top menu) > Preferences > Saving History
Find Saving Messages on the right
Check the box for <Save history for all contacts.>
Under Saving Messages find Saving Files
Check location for the Default Saving Path
(If the location where the messages are being saved to needs to be
changed, Click Change and specify a new location to save to)
Check the box or uncheck the box for <Save under contact name folder>.
You can view any archived messages or history:
Conversation window of a friend click on the History icon
or by visiting the location where you specified the conversations to be saved.
